Susanna Opper

Susanna OpperSusanna Opper specializes in crafting messages that are highly informative and easy to read. She combines corporate communications and management consulting expertise with an extensive knowledge of business. A seasoned speaker and writer, she is also an accomplished meeting facilitator.

Beginning in 2005, Opper began writing for consumer magazines and is a frequent contributor to the regional publication Berkshire Living.  She is co-author of TECHNOLOGY FOR TEAMS: Enhancing Productivity in Networked Organizations, published by Van Nostrand Reinhold in 1992. She has also published chapters in Web-Weaving: Intranets, Extranets and Strategic Alliances, edited by Peter Lloyd and Paula Boyle; Transforming Organizations through Groupware: Lotus Notes in Action, edited by Peter Lloyd and Roger Whitehead; and New Tools for New Times: The Workflow Paradigm, edited by Layna Fischer.

Susanna's business career began in book and magazine publishing with industry leaders such as McGraw Hill, Holt Reinhart & Winston and John Wiley & Sons. Later she held management positions in corporate communications with such giants as Exxon and Federated Stores. During her years with these organizations, she wrote, edited, designed and published magazines and newsletters for internal and external audiences on topics related to mining, shipping and retail sales.

In 1983 she founded Susanna Opper & Associates, a consulting firm that guided organizations through the transition from traditional work to electronically supported teamwork. Her firm's clients included major US and multinational companies such as American Express, Chemical Bank, The Equitable, Lotus Development Corp., and Merrill Lynch, as well as smaller organizations and consulting firms.

In 2002, she founded Shawenon Communications to help people get their messages across in the written word. Often collaborating with other professionals, she delivers website content, articles, newsletters and promotional materials to entrepreneurs, small and mid-sized businesses and larger organizations.

She holds an MBA in Management and Marketing from New York University's Stern School of Business and is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Brown University.
